Point Napatree and Fort Mansfield

Last summer Calypso and I visited one of the most beautiful stretches of Rhode Island. Located on the Western-most part of the state, Point Napatree is a long, sandy peninsula which becomes gradually less and less populated as you walk down along the beach. Located at its very end are the quiet ruins of an old, sunken fort. It's so enveloped by its surrounding environment that it's difficult to find at first among the local flora.

I think the fence takes away from the charm of the ruins, though I do understand it makes the place a bit safer

Some of the fort's tunnels were darker than others
