Chill Day at Wetherill and Mater Spei Church

Today Calypso and I chose to visit a couple of easy spots that I had already been to a few times, so it was mostly more laid-back than our usual shenanigans. First, to Fort Wetherill:

Found one more little triangle guy

There were at least three promposals written into stone. It's sweet but it ruins the view the slightest bit.

Fort Wetherill

This abandoned location in Jamestown is part of Fort Wetherill State Park and is entirely open to the public during the day for no cost. Nothing remains of the original fort but its concrete shell and some nearby hints of bunkers.

I've heard a rumor about a hidden tunnel under this place which leads to an island nearby, though others say this is untrue. Also, a friend has let me know about an obscure location near the fort found by climbing down and circumnavigating a cliff behind the fort. Until I look for these things, these are my pictures:

I don't know the purpose of these circular stepped ring things, but there are many of them throughout, and the hole in the middle is considerably deep.

There are many places underground that one can explore in the fort, though few of them connect.

Large rails presumably  used for transporting ammunition around the fort.

There were many thin tunnels in the underground sections that would bring you to different places if you didn't mind being cramped in a damp tunnel.

This was shot from a little underground place off of the main fort. There were two of these but there are probably more.

These little guys seemed to show up many times across the fort.

I also saw one of these guys at this abandoned bridge about an hour away.

Just behind the fort was the ocean and many cliffs
